NATIONAL DISCIPLINE COORDINATORS REQUIRED TO CHAMPION THE AMA MOTORCYCLE SPORT  DIVISIONS

Growth across the motorcycle sport divisions of the Australian Motorcyclist Association (AMA), means the AMA needs national discipline coordinators to help steer each of the motorcycle sport divisions - trials, motocross, off road, dirt track and tar track.

The role of a national discipline coordinator is to:

  • work with local AMA clubs and branches and help with the coordination of calendar dates for local, regional, state and national activities and the promotion of those activities;
  • work with local AMA clubs and branches and help them attract partners, sponsors and advertisers to support the clubs in their efforts to organise local, regional, state and national activities; and
  • work with local AMA clubs and branches across the country to help get more people involved in grassroots motorcycling.

Ideally a national discipline coordinator will already be working within the Australian motorcycle industry, ie. with a manufacturer, importer, dealer, accessory or associated retail business and will have the flexibility to perform some of the role during those normal working hours.

In return for providing such support to the AMA and the national discipline coordinator, the businesses will have the opportunity to have individual events and event series (local, regional, state and national) named after them, to be recognised as major supporter of the AMA division and the events and to participate in other areas for which the national discipline coordinator was responsible for.

The purpose of this initiative is to get the Australian motorcycle industry more involved in grassroots events, to provide more opportunities for young people, new and exisiting riders to get involved and to help grow motorcycling across the nation.

To register your interest in becoming an AMA National Discipline Coordinator please email services@amaclubs.com.au.

A NEW ERA FOR AUSTRALIAN MOTORCYCLE CLUBS IS NOW HERE

The Australian Motorcyclist Association (AMA) team has been working closely with its not for profit specialist law firm to produce a unique legal structure for local AMA branches which we think will greatly benefit clubs, industry, riders and local communities for many years to come.

Unlike a traditional motorcycle club which stands alone with its own rules, policies, procedures and is left to fend for itself, an AMA branch is a child association of the AMA, which means it’s not just a part of the AMA family, it is the AMA family.

To liken an AMA branch to another organisation think a local Lions Club to Lions Australia or a local Surf Life Saving Club to Surf Life Saving Australia, as is with a local AMA Branch to AMA National, eg. Australian Motorcyclist Association Bendigo Branch (AMA Bendigo).

The AMA’s insurer describes an AMA branch as a subsidiary company/ child association of the AMA, which means it has the same purpose as the AMA and is automatically named as an insured on all of the AMA insurance policies, ie. an AMA branch receives FREE insurance!!

And unlike traditional clubs which have members that can vote out effective committees and replace them with others that have self-serving interests, an AMA branch does not have those members. An AMA branch has a board as nominated by AMA national so a committee will always be effective and be able to just get on with the job of running the club.

Being a national organisation means all members join at the national level and an entitlement of this national membership is to participate in the activities of an AMA branch, anywhere in Australia. And unlike traditional incorporated clubs which can only operate within their home state, an AMA branch can operate anywhere in Australia.

AMA branches can work side by side in the organization and operation of local, regional, state and national events and share equally in the results of those events. Partnering with other AMA branches and creating a series of events can help return motorcycling in Australia to its heyday.

Even existing clubs can form a new AMA branch, wind up their existing club, transfer assets to the AMA branch and then register an ASIC trading name to the new AMA branch in the name of the old club. This way motorcycle clubs across Australia can reap the benefits of an AMA branch and still retain their existing identity.

So if you want to get more people involved in motorcycling, do it affordably and actually make money so you can build infrastructure to accommodate these people and do it in a way that is more effective than you have ever experienced as a motorcycle club in Australia, then come join us as an AMA branch.

PEOPLE WITH A PASSION FOR MOTORCYCLING NEEDED FOR THE BOARDS OF THE AMA STATE AND TERRITORY BRANCHES

The Australian Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is moving into its next stage of development with the registration of the AMA State and Territory Branches.

A total of 5 x AMA members is needed to make up the Board in each of the AMA State and Territory Branches.

The AMA State and Territory Branches are not governing bodies, but rather entities that provide a system of support to both the national and local AMA clubs.

The role of the Board and the functions of an AMA State and Territory Branches are to:

Attract state/ territory funding and represent the AMA at the state/ territory level;

Help local AMA clubs with the coordination of calendar dates for local, regional, state and national activities and the promotion of those activities;

Help local AMA clubs attract partners, sponsors and advertisers to support the local AMA clubs in their efforts to organise local, regional, state and national activities;

Promote and encourage motorcyclists within local council areas to volunteer as AMA regional chapter coordinators and become the eyes and ears of motorcycling for that area;

Communicate with regional chapter coordinators to determine what local issues need to be addressed by the AMA advocacy centre;

Work with our lobbying partner Tread Outdoors and communicate all local issues relating to motorcyclist rights, access issues, unfair laws, etc to have those issues addressed;

Promote and encourage AMA members to become volunteer competition commissioners, which work to better amateur competition events sanctioned by the AMA;

Work with competition commissioners to consider, disseminate, amend, interpret and assist in the enforcement of both technical and operational rules for AMA amateur competition events;

To become a member of an AMA State or Territory Branch, the person must not have affiliation with any other state, territory or national organization and must be a person of good standing in the Australian motorcycling community.

Please note: If you are a person that is not in good standing or you are a representative of another organisation trying to get in a position not becoming of the role, you need not register your interest.

Only people that are motorcyclists themselves, are passionate about motorcycling and want to see the direction of motorcycling in this country take a different and much improved course, should register.

Candidates for the Board of an AMA State or Territory Branch must reside anywhere within the state or territory for which they intend to represent.

Board meetings are online only, so board members must be computer literate and of course have internet access and internet camera.

If you are one of those people that lives and breathes motorcycles and motorcycling and or are someone that has brought the sport of motorcycling into disrepute because of your passion, the AMA needs you!

Please register your interest in becoming an AMA State or Territory Branch Board Member by emailing your name, contact details, motorcycling history/ experience, and the names and contact details of 2 x other persons which can vouch for your good standing to services@amaclubs.com.au

IS SHARING IN THE COST OF BUYING A PROPERTY FOR CAMPING OF INTEREST TO YOU?

The AMA property team has found an ideal off grid property for members that could be used for overnight camping and as a base for driving and riding out to the surrounding areas.

The 100 acre (40 ha) property we have in mind is located in South East QLD and has direct access to dual sport trail riding nirvana in the adjoining 20,000 acre state forest.

This property is fully fenced and has a large dam for swimming and fishing. The property is located on a quiet no-through (no traffic) all-weather unsealed road. Mains grid power is not currently available on the property however, services do pass along the front boundary.

The AMA property team has suggested the 'once off' share price for families will be around $2,500 per share. A family, constitutes all persons in the immediate family plus any juniors in the household, which the adults may be guardians of.

It is expected there will only be 125 shares available in this property, which will pay for the property, government taxes, development approvals and any immediate works to be actioned.

Shareholders will also be required to pay a yearly membership subscription fee to be a part of the share arrangement. This fee is expected to be around $250 per family, which will cover utilities, rates, improvements, maintenance, etc.

Being a part of the purchase arrangement would mean the shareholder family would have unlimited and unrestricted access to the property for the intended use.

Shareholders could also determine whether the property would remain private for the use of shareholder families only or whether it could be open to use by other AMA members for a fee.

Please note, this post is not about telling you how the share arrangement will work as we'll do that in the coming weeks, but rather to gauge your interest in whether you would like to share in the cost of buying such a property.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

The AMA Property Team

THE AUSTRALIAN MOTOR ASSOCIATION IS NOW OFFICIALLY A REGISTERED CHARITY

Every year around 1,200 motorists and motorcyclists are killed on Australia's roads. The highest percentage of these deaths are attributed to the young and inexperienced.

Any parent whose child has had limited driving or riding experience will tell you the greatest fear of their adult life is watching their child drive solo down the street for the first time.

But for those parents that brought their children up driving SSV's and 4WD's or riding ATV's and dirt bikes 'off road', will tell you they have the confidence that their child might just have enough experience to not be one of the 1,200.

It is only with the assistance of our principal corporate partner Small to Medium Enterprise Australia (SMEA), that the Australian Motor Association (AMA) Ltd has finally been able to achieve its goal of becoming a registered charity.

Being registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not for Profit Commission (ACNC) means every Australian that also believes, learning and gaining 'off road' driving and riding skills and knowledge will make you a safer motorist and motorcyclist 'on road', can now join with the AMA in a common goal:

To provide pre licence and licence age Australians with the ability to learn superior driving and riding skills and knowledge 'off road', to not be an Australian 'on road' statistic.

To achieve our charter of drive safe, ride safe the AMA aims to purchase land and establish facilities in suitable localities throughout Australia so 'off road' driver and rider education opportunities may be provided through training, programs, sport and recreation activities.

Your donation or bequest to the AMA will help us to achieve our common goal.
